Speaker Series
Let’s talk about the Future Forest! Why are we having catastrophic fires? What can we do about it? Why are trees being removed? Why do forest managers want to start fires? What about smoke and safety? This free 2-part Speaker Series at Truckee Community Recreation Center is open to families and the general public to talk about just these things.
Led by FOREST⇌FIRE Co-Creator Michael Llewellyn and supported by US Forest Service tree, water, soil, fire and smoke specialists, participants will have the opportunity to learn and talk about what the future forest might look like and how forest restoration processes will affect forest, watershed, and human well-being.
Participants will also have the opportunity to contribute to Visioning Our Future Forest, a cultural response to evolving forest management practices that will be displayed in the FOREST⇌FIRE Exhibition and archived at the Truckee Donner Historical Society.
